Interview with Arjan Weerstand, Salalah Port
Over the past decade, the Sultanate of Oman has been pursuing a policy of sound economic diversification and sustainable expansion. As a result, the economy was spared the worst effects of the global economic downturn and the country is increasing its international profile.
To take advantage of the Sultanate’s geographical position that gives it strong potential in the trade, transport and tourism sectors, massive investment in the country’s infrastructures are required. Driven by its Vision 2020, the Omani government is set to develop infrastructure projects with every economy sector benefiting from increased public spending. Oman’s construction industry is valued at US $3.7 billion in 2010 and is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 5.8% between 2010 and 2014.
This is a must attend event for Oman government organisations, Oman ministries, private developers, consultants, contractors, designers, architects, engineers, building material suppliers and manufacturers.
Job titles include:
Dr. Maurice Girgis Duqm Project Advisor Ministry of National Economy
Salim Talib Al Sheedi Chief Executive Officer Oman Society of Contractors
Eng. Sulaiman Bin Saif Al Hudhaili Secretary General Oman Society of Engineers
Dr. Ali Salem Al-Harthy Dean, Associate Professor Sultan Qaboos University
Providing affordable housing continues to be a challenge within the current emerging Middle East market. Governments within the region are seeking exceptional development frameworks, strategies and legislation toward creating and sustaining affordable housing. We are looking forward to this summit as we hope that the brainstorming sessions through the four days of innovative content and exchange of knowledge will boost the partnership and concentrate efforts of regional strategic leaders, thus assisting us to reach necessary targets.
The Oman Construction Summit is the first event that will bring distinguished members of the construction and engineering community together with senior representatives from ministries and government authorities to discuss opportunities, emerging trends and construction projects that will shape the industry’s future.
The summit will be a great opportunity for government and industry leaders to assess the massive investments made in the country’s infrastructure over the past 40 years, and to discuss the future of the construction industry while highlighting investments and business opportunities.
